A quick note on life…

Updated: Aug 3, 2024

It’s not easy! I love it when everything is going well, but when it’s not, we owe ourselves a deep dose of care and compassion. Life happens.

One lesson I learned from my teacher is that we live in a chaotic universe, (from a physics standpoint), and we absolutely can’t control everything. I think it’s a common lesson to grow through trying to control everything to have perfect outcomes. We try, but things don’t always work out as planned. Personally, I thought that if I did my manifestations, focused on positive thinking and setting intentions, I could create my life exactly the way I wanted it. And in truth, when I look back, in many ways I did, because we will manifest and experience what we think about. If we get into a state of worry or loneliness or scarcity, we will attract more of it. Life will mirror our blocks, our fears, our worries back to us, so that we can learn and evolve past them, and because we tend manifest what we think about.

That being said, it is SO important to understand that with all of our power to create with intention, manifest, positive think, affirm, etc…we don’t control everything. Shit happens and we have to deal with it. There are all sorts of external and karmic forces that we have to contend with. And, this is a good moment to clarify that not everything is our fault. Some “spiritual” people say that we create everything in our reality, and I disagree, as that completely invalidates injustices, being a victim of abuse or crime, etc. Being in a chaotic universe means that things happen to us that are beyond our control.

Sometimes we get really blindsided despite our best efforts, or our innate goodness. But, we have a choice in how we respond. Those are the times when having a spiritual / consciousness practice really support you. That is when you realize the true power you have to get through tough things, while understanding that we must experience a full range of emotions in life, and we can learn to have compassion for ourselves and others. We understand that both the light and the dark are part of life, and the lessons that they offer. We can then choose to respond to our circumstances in an empowered way, using our spiritual tool box to cope. And then…we come out on the other side with good karma, and our circumstances improve.

My father used to tell me, “this too shall pass”…some of the best advice I have ever received. We have good times, we have bad times. Our experience in life is a great journey of love and learning. Allow yourself to ride the waves of your life with ease and grace 🩷
